Parenting is one of the greatest sacrifices an individual can make, and becoming a mother for the first time is a life-changing experience often filled with excitement, anxiety, and uncertainty. Primigravida mothers, those giving birth for the first time, face unique challenges in caring for their newborns. A mother's sense of parenting competence significantly influences her mental health and is a strong predictor of parenting effectiveness and positive infant outcomes. Therefore, the aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of a Parenting Skill Training Module on the knowledge and attitude of Primigravida mothers at a selected Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) in Chennai. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest research design was adopted for the study among 30 primigravida mothers who were selected through a purposive sampling technique. A pretest was administered using a self-structured questionnaire to assess knowledge and an attitude scale was used to assess the attitude on parenting skills. The mothers participated in a week-long intervention, consisting of one-hour morning sessions held on alternate days, based on the Parenting Skill Training Module. The study findings showed that the pre-test on knowledge and attitude mean score was 11.37 and 15.40, respectively with standard deviation of 3.26 and 4.49 in each variable. And posttest on knowledge and attitude mean score was 16.60 and 18.70 with standard deviation of 4.76 and 4.21, respectively. The paired `t` value was 6.295 and 4.927 which revealed that there was a highly statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest level of knowledge and attitude at p<0.05. This suggests that as the knowledge of Primi gravida mothers improved after the intervention, their attitudes toward parenting also became more positive.
