A study to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on knowledge regarding antenatal examination among nursing students of selected College of Nursing, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

The purpose of the prenatal examination is to evaluate the characteristics of the pregnant lady. It is regarded as a unique supplement to the abdominal examination. General health observation, history taking, height, weight, haemoglobin and blood glucose measurements, urine testing, abdominal inspection, and prenatal consultation are all part of the standard prenatal examination.

Methodology: The study used a pre-experimental, one-group pre-test, post-test design. 60 third- and fourth-year B.Sc. nursing students from KSR College of Nursing in Guntur participated in the study. A systematic knowledge questionnaire was used to collect data both before and after the VAT was administered.

Results: The highest quantity of nursing students, 56% were between the ages of 21 and 23. Eighty-three percent of nursing students were female. Eighty percent of nursing students were single. Sixty-three percent of nursing students have performed antenatal exams fewer than ten times. Seventy-five percent of nursing students have completed between fifty and eighty percent of the midwifery theory hours. Sixty-two percent of nursing students had never used prenatal palpation. Lectures were the primary source of information for 42% of nursing students. At the 0.05 level of significance, the Knowledge 52.9 t-test result was determined to be significant, indicating that video-assisted instruction was effective. Additionally, it showed that the improvement in nursing students' knowledge scores was due to the efficacy of video-assisted instruction rather than chance. At the 0.05 level of significance, a statistically significant correlation was found between nursing students' demographic variables and their level of knowledge regarding antenatal examination.
